Temporary Support - When you need it.

One of the greatest benefits of living at St James Oaks is knowing that a little extra help is available if life becomes temporarily more difficult, something that many of our competitors doesn’t offer.

Whether you’ve recently returned home from hospital, are recovering from an illness, or simply need a little additional support for a short period, our experienced House Managers are here to help.

As part of your annual service charge, St James Oaks operates a Temporary Support List, designed to provide reassurance, practical assistance and peace of mind until you’re back on your feet.

There are no additional charges for this short-term support. It is all part of the service.

A Helping Hand During Recovery

Sometimes all that’s needed is someone to check that everything is alright.
Residents who are identified as needing temporary support may receive visits from one of our House Managers, typically twice a day, depending on individual circumstances.

These friendly visits might include:

• Checking that you’re feeling well
• Making a sandwich or light snack
• Picking up a few essential shopping items
• Making sure you have everything you need
• Offering reassurance and a friendly face
• Identifying if additional help may be required

The aim is simple—to help residents remain comfortable, safe and independent while they recover.

Who Might Benefit?

Temporary support is intended for residents experiencing a short-term change in circumstances, for example:

  • Returning home after a hospital stay
  • Recovering from an illness or operation
  • Feeling temporarily unwell
  • Recovering from an injury
  • Experiencing a period where a little extra reassurance is beneficial

Our House Managers get to know residents personally and will often identify when someone could benefit from additional support or advice.

Working With Families

Where appropriate, our House Managers can liaise with relatives or other nominated contacts, keeping them informed and providing reassurance that their loved one is receiving the temporary support they need.

This close communication helps families feel confident that someone is keeping a caring eye on things during difficult times.

Helping You Stay Independent

Our Temporary Support Programme isn’t designed to replace professional healthcare or domiciliary care services. Instead, it provides practical day-to-day assistance and reassurance during those times when a little extra help can make a big difference.

Included Within Your Service Charge

Unlike many forms of short-term support, our Temporary Support List is already included within the annual service charge.

It’s one of the many benefits of living at St James Oaks and reflects our commitment to creating a safe, caring and supportive community where residents can enjoy independent living with complete peace of mind.
